Chelsea complete Deco deal
It has been confirmed that Deco has transferred from Barcelona to Chelsea for an estimated fee of £8million.
The Brazilian playmaker had been told recently by Barcelona that he would not be a fixture in next years line-up and that they would be looking to sell him.
Deco has been linked with Chelsea many times in the past few years, with sources saying that he would end up there eventually.
It took the new manager, Luiz Felipe Scolari to actually make things happen and Deco has become Scolari’s first official signing.
It has been said that Inter Milan were also interested in Deco but they would not pay the initial asking price of £11million. Chelsea seem to have negotiated the price down and have got themselves a better deal.
New Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho said recently that he would like to sign Deco. Having previously played under Mourinho at Porto it seemed like Jose would get his man. The ex-Chelsea boss will now have to look elsewhere.
Deco said,
“I am very happy to be here at Chelsea. I hope I can help Chelsea to get back the number one spot in the Premier League and also to hopefully win the Champions League. There are many amazing players here at Chelsea and the competition I face with getting to play is a healthy thing.”
Scolari officially starts work at Chelsea on the 1st of July. However, with the changes he is making already it looks as though Chelsea will be playing exciting live football during the coming season.
